Overview

Summary:

 

The benefits coordinator position, reporting to the HR Manager, assists employees with benefits enrollment and questions, verifies all insurance billing, maintains employee benefit files, and ensures compliance with required benefit notices.

Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilites:

  • Administer various employee benefits programs, such as group health, flexible spending accounts, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, 401(k), and wellness benefits.
  • Conduct benefits orientations and explain benefits enrollment system.
  • Maintain employee benefits filing systems and ensure benefits changes are entered appropriately in payroll system for payroll deduction.
  • Assist employees with health, dental, life and other related benefit claims.
  • Verify the calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintain statistical data relative to premiums, claims and costs. Resolve administrative problems with the carrier representatives.
  • Administer COBRA in conjunction with the Third Party Administrator.
  • Review and respond to unemployment claims with appropriate documentation. Review monthly unemployment statements.
  • Compile information during renewal process of any health, life and retirement plans that benefit the company.  Track utilization.
  • Prepare and set up meetings designed to help employees obtain information and understand company benefits.
  • Ensure distribution of required employee notices.
  • Complete all reporting requirements for the benefits program.
  • Make recommendations to CEO regarding changes and updates to the benefit program.
  • Ensure the benefits program is competitive in the marketplace.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above AND three years of experience in employee benefits administration.
  • Professional designations related to Benefits Administration a plus.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Possess a valid CA driver's license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and push up to 50 pounds (on wheels).
  • Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those who are served in-person, and speak clearly in order to communicate information to patients and staff.
  • Must be able to read memos, computer screens, personnel forms and clinical and administrative documents.
  • Must have high manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, twist/turn.

The pay range for this non-exempt position starts at $27.95 an hour. Our salaries are dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.
