Overview

The Dental Assistant (DA) Supervisor is responsible for general oversight of the UHC dental program at all sites. Primary to the DA Supervisor's responsibilities is ensuring effective and efficient delivery of dental services in all UHC dental departments. This exempt position reports directly to the Dental Director.

Responsibilities

Works closely with the Health Center Managers and Regional Directors to:

  • Provide leadership and support for the UHC dental program at all sites.
  • Assist with recruitment and hiring for dental assistant positions for all UHC sites.
  • Provide training and orientation for dentist, dental hygienist and dental assistant positions
    for all UHC sites.
  • Provides input and assists with creation and implementation of dental policies and procedures.
  • Performs RDA functions and coverage as necessary.
  • Coordinates dental staffing personnel to all offices as needed.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Possess a valid RDA California License
  • Current CPR certification

PRIOR EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a dental setting.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of community health centers mission and role.

SKILLS:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Able to quickly build and maintain rapport with patients and providers of differing backgrounds; team player
  • Customer-service oriented
  • Strong computer skills; knowledge of computerized dental records systems
  • Familiar with adult learning and general training techniques
  • Positive professional insight
  • Flexibility and dependability
  • Demonstrated good problem-solving skills; sound judgment
  • Effective leadership/supervisory skills
  • Modern office practices and procedures including email
  • Attention to detail and excellent follow-through on work tasks
  • Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and push up to 50 pounds (on wheels).
  • Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those who are served in-person, and speak clearly in order to communicate information to patients and staff.
  • Must be able to read memos, computer screens, and administrative documents.
  • Must have high manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, twist/turn
  • Must be able to sit between 5-7 hours daily
  • Must possess close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to work indoors and out doors
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle to and from various sites at UHC.

The pay range for this Exempt position starts at $70,347.08 a year. Our salaries are dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.
